Networking software giant Cisco has teamed up with smart meter manufacturer Itron to create a consolidated Internet protocol network for utilities. It is expected that this will make it easier for utilities to buy and build smart grid networks.
Three electric buses built by Proterra have been purchased by Foothill Transit for use in an area in eastern Los Angeles. Foothill Transit also purchased two fast-charging stations for the buses. After the completion of the trial period, the decision will be made whether to purchase more buses.
Global Solar has introduced thin film flat solar panels for use on flat commercial roofs without the usual need for racking of glass solar panels. Lack of need for racking space, allows for more square footage of the flat panels.
