The Wall Street Journal named Recyclebank number 4 on their list of top 10 venture-backed clean tech companies. Recyclebank rewards consumers when they make pledges to reduce their energy use, increase the amount of recycling or learn about how they can add more green to their home and neighborhood. Points can then be used to obtain discounts on products from major manufacturers
At the beginning of 2010 AT&T started 4,200 energy saving projects. By the end of 2010 the results were in; $44 million in annualized savings were generated. To achieve the results AT&T began training a limited number of employees to detect energy waste. They also used the services of an intern from Climate Corps to study the usage of power. Replacing incandescent lighting with more energy efficiency lighting and adding power saving devices to office computers were implemented among other projects. Plans call for even more projects in 2011.
A recent survey by Comverge found utilities are making plans to increase their energy efficiency budgets by 10% in 2011.
